“Christianity In Nigeria On Brink Of Extinction” – NCEF Charges CAN & Political Leaders

Following the massive rise in the killing of Christians in Nigeria a group of Christian leaders under the umbrella of National Christian Elders Forum NCEF has warned that Christianity in Nigeria is in danger of extinction if the issue is not checked and stopped.

The group led by a former Minister of Defence, Lt. Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (rtd.), and Solomon Asemota (SAN)  gave the warning in a paper titled “Impact of lack of unity in CAN as threat to Christian faith” during during the annual conference of Catholic Men’s Guild, held at the Catholic Church of Assumption, Ikoyi in Lagos.

During the presentation of the paper by Bosun Emmanuel who is the secretary for the group he said: “Current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is openly pursuing an anti-Christian agenda that has resulted in countless murders of Christians all over the nation and destruction of vulnerable Christian communities.”

While also stating that “Due to the inability of CAN to forge Christians into one indivisible army of the Lord, the Church has been weakened and unable to stand before its enemies. Realistically speaking, Christianity is on the brink of extinction in Nigeria. The ascendancy of Sharia ideology in Nigeria rings the death toll for the Nigerian Church. It is therefore imperative that CAN must be restructured, as a matter of urgency, if Christianity is to survive. CAN belongs to every Christian in Nigeria and there is nothing wrong with the association. It is the management that should be revisited and restructured.

“The Catholic Church should be prepared to return completely into the fold of CAN and participate fully in providing leadership in these troublous times. God warned in 2013 that we were not careful, in 30 to 40 years, Nigeria would be like Turkey. In 2018, we can say in 25 years from now, we are facing the risk of being the last Christians in Nigeria. Therefore, Christians should be in the frontline of defending democracy in Nigeria. The Church is the bastion of democracy. A divided CAN cannot defend democracy and promote justice, equity, and fairness. Consequently, Sharia will grow stronger. As Sharia grows stronger, democracy will become weaker and the Church will be emasculated out of existence. The current Federal Government in Nigeria is openly pursuing an anti-Christian agenda that has resulted in countless murders of Christians all over the nation and destruction of vulnerable Christian communities. Just recently, Elder Statesman, Gen. T. Y. Danjuma raised the alarm that Christians should take steps to defend themselves.” he concluded

HOW APOSTLE JOSEPH AYO BABALOLA DIED- PROPHET I.O. OGEDEGBE

Until his sudden departure to glory on Sunday, July 1959, Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola showed no sign of illness. On Friday 24 July, he returned to Ibadan to attend the general council’s meeting slated for that day. On Saturday morning, July, Apostle Babalola conducted the morning prayer for ministers and members living in the vicarage of C.A.C. Olugbode, Ibadan and prayed for everybody. The same day, he sent two of his followers, Michael and another fellow to me at Ede that I should prepare a place for him to sleep. I never knew he was talking about his final sleep. Apostle Ayo Babalola arrived Ede around 6:30 in the evening that Saturday and he was gladly received. Before his arrival, I had prepared my bedroom ready for him. We ensured that nobody was allowed to rush into the bedroom with him; for it was Apostle Babalola’s habit that he never turned away anybody who came to him for prayer and counseling, no matter how weary he might be. After prayer, I informed him that his meal was ready. He declined to take any meal but requested to be allowed to have some sleep, because he had been holding series of meetings for the past nine days with little or no rest. He woke up three hours later and took some tea and slept off again. At 4 a.m. on Sunday, he woke up, took his bath, took some tea and had his morning meditation without any disturbance. At 6 o’clock, I went to him in the bedroom and he began to talk about a great convention which will soon be held in his hometown, Odo-Owa. He was speaking in parables, so I did not suspect that he was talking about his approaching death. He directed me to call in Prophet Babajide who was in the adjacent room. Both of us knelt down beside his bed and he began to narrate to us how he began his ministry. It was such a sublime experience. Both of us just listened; we did not utter a single word during the course of his narration. After this, we knelt down for prayer. The three of us prayed. I took the lead. Prophet Babajide followed. When it was Apostle Babalola’s turn to pray, he prayed for a very long time, praying for the church, the leaders and for us too. After the special service, people came to Apostle Babalola in my bedroom and bid him farewell before leaving for their various destinations with joy and humor. He bid everyone farewell and prayed for them. Nobody suspected through his speech or action that death was lurking in the corners. We left him alone to attend to those who were waiting to see him. Meanwhile, Michael Osabi and Samuel Oluwatusin, the two young men who used to wait on him, remained with him as he took a nap. When he woke up, he called me and returned my covering-cloth to me. His action surprised me and I asked, “Baba, why are you doing this?” He replied, “A man should sleep with his own clothes.” It did not occur to me that he was speaking of his imminent death. He advised me to go and have some sleep myself. By then, everybody else had gone to church for the evening service. Around 5 p.m. as he lay on the bed, Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola breathed heavily three times, saying after, “in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” His breathing was like the rumbling of a rain-storm and there was a great vibration in the bedroom. As this was happening, his personal attendants (Michael and Samuel) ran to call me to his bedside before he gave up the ghost. We began to pray and quickly sent for the church leaders who had gone to church for the evening service. We all prayed for his restoration. But while this prayer was on, the Lord opened my spiritual eyes to see what was happening in the heavenlies. The heavenly hosts had come to meet this great prophet and joyfully admitted him into the glory above. He had laid down his sword at Jesus’ feet. So he could not return to earth again. The church leaders and the elders who were presently arranged for Apostle Babalola’s corpse to be taken to Efon-Alaaye that same night

Herdsmen Killings: Pastor Adeboye Visits Benue, Reveals What God Will Do

Herdsmen Killings: Pastor Adeboye Visits Benue, Reveals What God Will Do

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the
Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, on Friday visited Benue State and prayed for God’s intervention in the ongoing killings in the State.

The cleric led a cross-section of Benue people to pray for the state, assuring that God would take up the battle and put an end to killings everywhere in Nigeria.

“We will call on God to fight this battle that we cannot fight. I’m here to pray for the state that the helper of the helpless will fight our battle.

“We will ask God to arise and put an end to this bloodshed. Let there be peace in Nigeria as a whole. There will be no more bloodshed in Nigeria,”
he said.

He said that in accordance with the Holy Bible, that
the horse is prepared for the day of battle but safety is of the Lord as he stressed that men can hide from men but no one could hide from God.

According to him, “Men can be corrupted, they can decide to do what is not 100 percent correct with the assistance of others but there is no way you can compromise the holiness of God. He is a Holy God, he created us all. And I know when we call on him to intervene, what is impossible for man is possible for God.”
.
While condoling with the governor and people of the state over loss of lives, he said his family and the entire church had continued to weep for Benue everyday since the killings began on New Year Day.
.
“We have felt every pain you have felt. We have wept when we saw you weeping. As a matter of fact, there is no way a man of God will not feel the pain when he sees mass burial anywhere. Some of those people are our children and some are not yet converted, so we suffer double loss. When somebody is dead, you can’t convert that person.

That is why we want these killings to stop. The Almighty God who doesn’t play, pranks or compromise can stop it,” the RCCG overseer posited.

You are sabotaging my assignment – Tinubu tells Oyegun

Author: Kess Ewubare

– APC national leader, Bola Tinubu, accuses party chairman, John Oyegun, of violating the agreement both of them had at the party secretariat

– He alleges that Oyegun has unilaterally inaugurated officials parallel to the officials already heading the Kogi state chapter of the party – APC sets up committee to investigate disagreement in its Kaduna state chapter The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC),

Bola Tinubu, has accused the national chairman of the party, John Odigie-Oyegun, of sabotaging efforts to reconcile aggrieved party members.

The Cable reports that Tinubu in a letter dated Wednesday, February 21, accused Oyegun of violating the agreement both of them had at the party secretariat when President Muhammadu Buhari gave him the assignment of reconciling aggrieved party members.

He said: “Disappointment greeted me when I discovered that you had swiftly acted in contravention of the spirit of our discussions.

Instead of being a bulwark of support as promised, you positioned yourself in active opposition to the goal of resuscitating the progressive and democratic nature of APC.” In the letter copied to the president, vice-president, Senate president and speaker of the House of Representatives, the APC national leader faulted the party chairman for allegedly taking actions to hinder the reconciliation process in Kogi, Kaduna, Kano and Adamawa states.

He said Oyegun had unilaterally inaugurated officials parallel to the officials already heading the Kogi state chapter of the party

“While this may place you insignificant affinity with those parallel officials you handpicked, this machination suggests no improvement in the welfare of the party in Kogi or at the national level,” Tinubu wrote.

He urged the APC national chairman to stop taking unilateral decisions with regard to the national and state chapters of the party. Tinubu also reminded Oyegun that the assignment of reconciling aggrieved party members was one given him by President Buhari. Meanwhile, the national working committee of the APC has set up a three-man committee to embark on a fact-finding mission to Kaduna state with a view to identifying the remote and immediate causes of the disagreement.

It will be led by the deputy national chairman (south), Engr Segun Oni and is expected to also identify the immediate causes of the disagreement and the circumstance that led to the demolition of the house of Senator Hunkuyi.

The committee is expected to report back to the NWC within a week. Other members of the committee are the national auditor, chief George Moghalu and Hajia Rahmatu Alliyu, national woman leader.

Nathaniel Bassey Pens Touching Message About Billy Graham’s Death

In the last 24 hours or so, News Media, social media and every other forms of Media have been awash with stories, captions and testimonies about this ONE LIFE. Billy Graham. Even secular News Media have spoken in such a honorable manner about this Man of God. As I read and listen closely, I’m yet to see anything that speaks about his material possessions. He hasn’t dominated global headlines because of riches and material wealth. But instead the whole of creation is standing because of the JESUS He preached so unmistakably and unambiguously, and the accompanying Life He lived. I read of Don Moen’s testimony whose Father in law was saved due to Billy’s Radio Broadcast in the 1950s. And because of that one experience changed the whole course of life of that family. One of whom is Don’s Wife. Imagine the number of Pastors saved, the Ministries Born, and the multitudes eternally saved because one man preached and lived JESUS.

I did a search on google this morning and found out the name BILLY GRAHAM was the most trending name in the World in 24 hours. Something many seek after. But something another man achieved even without seeking. But rather by seeking Christ’s kingdom and righteousness. And not just that – in the past 24 hours, there’s been so much mention of the name JESUS on secular news media and on social media because of Evangelist Graham. As I read all of these, it becomes clear what God intends our lives to be. One that dispenses the GLORY OF GOD. Paul puts it this way…. “But thank God! He has made us his captives and continues to lead us along in Christ’s triumphal procession. Now he uses us to spread the knowledge of Christ everywhere, like a sweet perfume.”

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭2:14‬ ‭NLT‬‬.

As the body of Christ world over celebrates the transition of one of her generals, this occasion leaves me with some pertinent questions. What am I preaching? And How am I living? Am I preaching and living Christ? What fragrance is my life exuding? And what fragrance would it leave behind?

It is true what Jesus said, that a man’s life does not consist of the things that He owns.

And I dare to add, “but rather, about the LIVES He touched.” WHAT A LIFE !
BILLY GRAHAM!

New:“Why We Can’t Deliver On Our Promises” – Osinbajo

“Why We Can’t Deliver On Our Promises” – Osinbajo

The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, yesterday, blamed government’s inability to deliver on its promises on socio-political inequality, weak justice system, an absence of rule of law and lack of state capacity to maintain law and order.

He also expressed frustrations at the inability of anti-graft agencies to secure convictions for the many suspects brought before the courts for corruption due to the manipulative tendencies of the elite class. Osinbajo spoke as Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Fr. Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah, said the problems plaguing the nation’s democracy will not disappear with the removal of President Muhammadu Buhari from office.

The duo made their separate remarks at a public lecture organized by The Kukah Centre in Abuja yesterday, with the theme: “How to make Democracy Work for Africa.” Osinbajo, who noted that people expected those charged with governance to deliver on their promises, including delivering social goods, ensuring that the growing youth population got jobs, ensuring the rule of law and security, lamented that despite several suspects charged with corruption by anti-graft agencies in the country, convictions are yet to be secured.

According to him, convictions have not been achieved due to the manipulation of suspects who are mainly elites. Osinbajo said people could be put on trial but the trials could go on forever because the system enables people to employ diverse legal tactics to delay conviction.
Accordingly, he said the elite preferred the status quo which set the lowest bar for political advancement, being “identity politics” of where one comes from or which religion one belongs.

He said the elite follow the path of such division to analyze real development issues, thus diminishing the real issues concerning the people such as good governance, job creation, poverty alleviation, peace, and security.
The African problem The Vice President said: “That is the Africa story; democracy, yes; election yes. These are issues that remain very prominent everywhere in Africa. “It is often threatened because we simply have not invested enough in the institutions that make this possible. So, ensuring security, problems of weak policing are some of the issues that we experience. Read More »
