Black Sheep Of The Month: Billy Graham

For the month of March, we want to highlight the amazing and inspiring Billy Graham. This amazing man was an American evangelist who preached all over the world leading millions, possibly billions to Christ. He served as a spiritual advisor to the U. S. presidents (Harry S. Truman to Barack Obama) and was vehemently against segregation at a time when a notion like that wasn’t very popular.

And though he had been so well known for so many years (and most definitely a name in my household), the first time I ever actually started to pay attention to him was when I first saw his TED Talk in 2010 (recorded 1998). I honestly thought it very interesting that they let a Christian preacher speak to people who seemed to focus a lot more on the technological and economic aspects of humanity, not always necessarily the spiritual.

In his 26 minute talk, he spoke about three problems technology cannot fix – human evil, human suffering, and death. He elaborated on each point referencing famous scientists like Einstein and biblical figures like David. And in a room full of philosophers, engineers and scholars, stood flat footed and claimed that David answered the three dilemmas with one passage.

Psalm 23:4: “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”
Billy Graham lived a life of consistent evangelism and commitment to Christ and Christ’s people. He was bold and unwavering in his mission to proclaim the gospel to any and all who would hear it. He showed us all how to counter the culture and stay peculiar.

Amazing grace is the sweetest sound
That changed my life, I once was lost
But now I’m found,
Was blind but now I see
You took my shame, you took my pain
My Jesus gave me his
Now I reign I reign with him
All my days I’ll give him my praise

Everywhere that I go
Everything that I do
All I see is grace
Grace grace grace

Grace great grace
All I see is grace
Grace great grace

Amazing grace amazing grace
Is the story of my life
It’s not by power
It’s not by might
It’s by the spirit of the lord
It’s not by hard work
It’s not by skills
Divine help is what i enjoy

I have grace great grace

The hand of Jehovah

“I’ve Moved With Friends Who Ended As Robbers” – Sammie Okposo

Multi-award winning Gospel artist, Sammie Okposo reminisces on his past in a chat with Punch’s Saturday Beats. He shares how he abandoned his Christian upbringing for what the world has to offer.

The producer, psalmist, entertainment consultant to mention but a few revealed how he shunned the Christian background he had as a child to explore the world and how he even ended up with the “wrong crowd” who later became highway robbers.

“I did not do any of the crazy stuff like drugs but I was generally stubborn and I moved with the wrong set of people who almost lured me into a wrong environment. I have been around guys who ended up becoming highway robbers,” he says.

The singer continues, “My mother would tell me that she did not like the guys I moved with. When we got out of school, one day I turned on the television only to see that those my friends were wanted by law enforcement agents who later caught up with some of them and they are dead. It made me ask myself, what if I had followed those guys? I would probably have been dead by now.”

The Gospel music superstar also revealed how much his parent where heart broken when he told them he wanted to go into music, saying:

“When I returned home, my parents were very glad because they had been praying for me. They were happy because they did not have to identify my body if anything had gone wrong. However, they were not very happy that I ventured into music because my father wanted me to be an accountant.

. “Twenty years ago, you could not tell your parents you wanted to be a musician. Of all the awards I have received in my life, the biggest would be when my father looked at me and told me he was proud of me before he died.”

Sammie Okposo is preparing what looks like a collaboration with singers Tim Godfrey, Onos and Nikki Laoye . Although none of the parties have said more than “something is about to happen,” the Mindustry is already anticipating earnestly.

“We Get Attacked For Preaching Prosperity, I Will No Longer Fly Private Jet” – Benny Hinn

“We Get Attacked For Preaching Prosperity, I Will No Longer Fly Private Jet” – Benny Hinn

Benny Hinn went on to say that he no longer flies private jets, and dispelled rumors that he is worth $40 million.
.
On prosperity teaching, some have gone to the extreme | Benny Hinn.

Televangelist Benny Hinn recorded an extended Facebook Live video (the comments start around the 9:30 mark), discussing the legacy of Billy Graham, who died at the age of 99. And, along with talking about Graham’s influence on himself and his ministry, Hinn also got surprisingly candid about his philosophy on the so-called “prosperity gospel.”

Though he said , “We get attacked for preaching prosperity, well it’s in the Bible,” he continued, “But I think some have gone to the extreme with it sadly, and it’s not God’s word what is taught, and I think I’m as guilty as others. Sometimes you go a little farther than you really need to go and then God brings you back to normality and reality.”

He explained, “When I was younger I was influenced by the preachers who taught whatever they taught. But as I’ve lived longer, I’m thinking, ‘Wait a minute, you know this doesn’t fit totally with the Bible and it doesn’t fit with the reality.’ So what is prosperity? No lack. I’ve said this before.”

Hinn said, “Did Elijah the prophet have a car? No. Did not even have a bicycle. He had no lack … Did Jesus drive a car or live in a mansion? No. He had no lack. How about the apostles? None lacked among them. Today, the idea is abundance and palatial homes and cars and bank accounts. The focus is wrong … It’s so wrong.”

Hinn went on to say that he no longer flies private jets, and dispelled rumors that he is worth $40 million.

“We all sadly make the mistake of thinking that, ‘Well this is what God wants,’ and God says ‘No, that’s not what I want.’ It’s time to live biblically. You know it all comes down to one thing. Do we love Jesus, yes or no? If we love Jesus then it’s all about Jesus. If we don’t love Jesus then it’s about other things.”

New Post: “Not A Gospel Artist But Super Cool With Jesus” – Chance The Rapper

“Not A Gospel Artist But Super Cool With Jesus” – Chance The Rapper

American Hip Hop artiste Chance The Rapper says he finds sharing God’s word in public “fun and cool”. He said he is not a Gospel artist but a Christian who raps.

The multi-award winning rapper made this known during an exclusive interview when asked about his genre of music and if it was related to Gospel he said:

“I would never say I’m making Gospel music,” he explained, “but I love God. I love Jesus. And I’m super cool with saying that”.  Along with his Christian faith, Chance said his toddler, Kensli, played a huge role in his Christian faith.

“My life used to be a whole bunch of little dots on a timeline,” Chance continued. “After I had Kensli, it was like all of that became one dot. And it’s like my new life is, you know, so much better and so much more eventful and, like, purposed.”

In an interview with Teen Vogue last year, Chance talked more about the way he thinks about his music:

“One of my biggest fears with Coloring Book was that it would be labeled. I hate labels, I never sought out for people to recognize it as a gospel album. I don’t make Christian rap, but I am a Christian rapper.

“When I was going out and trying to fully give glory to God, in my setting, I feared that people would be dismissive of it, like, “This is Christian rap, I’m not trying to hear it.” But it’s the total opposite: People were very accepting of it. Whether they say, “I’m an atheist, but I love Coloring Book” or they say, “I’m so glad I was able to get closer to God through this project,” people had formed opinions about what I put into the world. I think that’s always the goal of art, is to make people ask themselves questions. Like Get Out!”

You are sabotaging my assignment – Tinubu tells Oyegun

Author: Kess Ewubare

– APC national leader, Bola Tinubu, accuses party chairman, John Oyegun, of violating the agreement both of them had at the party secretariat

– He alleges that Oyegun has unilaterally inaugurated officials parallel to the officials already heading the Kogi state chapter of the party – APC sets up committee to investigate disagreement in its Kaduna state chapter The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC),

Bola Tinubu, has accused the national chairman of the party, John Odigie-Oyegun, of sabotaging efforts to reconcile aggrieved party members.

The Cable reports that Tinubu in a letter dated Wednesday, February 21, accused Oyegun of violating the agreement both of them had at the party secretariat when President Muhammadu Buhari gave him the assignment of reconciling aggrieved party members.

He said: “Disappointment greeted me when I discovered that you had swiftly acted in contravention of the spirit of our discussions.

Instead of being a bulwark of support as promised, you positioned yourself in active opposition to the goal of resuscitating the progressive and democratic nature of APC.” In the letter copied to the president, vice-president, Senate president and speaker of the House of Representatives, the APC national leader faulted the party chairman for allegedly taking actions to hinder the reconciliation process in Kogi, Kaduna, Kano and Adamawa states.

He said Oyegun had unilaterally inaugurated officials parallel to the officials already heading the Kogi state chapter of the party

“While this may place you insignificant affinity with those parallel officials you handpicked, this machination suggests no improvement in the welfare of the party in Kogi or at the national level,” Tinubu wrote.

He urged the APC national chairman to stop taking unilateral decisions with regard to the national and state chapters of the party. Tinubu also reminded Oyegun that the assignment of reconciling aggrieved party members was one given him by President Buhari. Meanwhile, the national working committee of the APC has set up a three-man committee to embark on a fact-finding mission to Kaduna state with a view to identifying the remote and immediate causes of the disagreement.

It will be led by the deputy national chairman (south), Engr Segun Oni and is expected to also identify the immediate causes of the disagreement and the circumstance that led to the demolition of the house of Senator Hunkuyi.

The committee is expected to report back to the NWC within a week. Other members of the committee are the national auditor, chief George Moghalu and Hajia Rahmatu Alliyu, national woman leader.
