Snoop Dogg: ‘I Thought Church Was Supposed To Welcome Sinners
Snoop Dogg has some strong words for people who throw shade at his recent foray into Gospel music. The gangsta rap legend released a 32-track opus called Bible of Lovethat featured gospel heavyweights like Tye Tribbett, Fred Hammond, and B. Slade (formerly known as Tonex)–now the #1 Gospel album on the Billboard charts.
Although Bible of Lovesnuck up on us, the gospel greats that joined Snoop to produce the project have vouched for the rapper, saying that the work is coming from a real place. Snoop also has church roots: i.e. his mother, Beverly Broadus, is an evangelist who travels and preaches. So, while Bible of Love, is a surprise for many of us. For Snoop, the project is a “return home,” a phrase he uses several times in a recent interview.
Even so, some people are having trouble welcoming the Doggfather into the fold. Snoopsets the record straighton his motivations for the project and what critics can do with their opinions. “I thought church was supposed to welcome sinners,” Snoop says to TV One after his performance at this year’s Stellar Awards. He continues:
If the church was full of saints it wouldn’t be right. So if you find someone trying to find their way back home, the natural thing to do is to be warm welcoming, open your arms and say “Brother, we accept you for who you are and what you’re going through. Come as you are. We know you’ve been doing wrong and you want to get right and we want to help you get right.” We’re not gonna’ throw stones on you when you’re trying to get right and walking back into the church house. That’s what’s running people out the church right now as we speak. His theology isn’t pristine but he’s not wrong either.
Sure. There is something to be said about the necessary consequences of salvation: that is, growth in holiness. And Paul has some advice about new believers not getting into leadership in the body of Christ too quickly (1 Timothy 3:6).
But then there’s also all of Jesus’ teachings and parables about religious know-it-alls and nitpickers who are so obsessed with pointing out the sins of their neighbors that they don’t even realize that they–themselves–are not entering the kingdom (Luke 18:9-14). Snoop’s words also remind other Christians not to be the proverbial “older brother” in Jesus’ Good Samaritan Parable.
The rap icon says that if the architects of the genre don’t have a problem with him reppin’ for the Lord then no one else should. “And if you do what’s happenin?” he asks rhetorically, but his body language says “You can catch these hands if you got’ sum’n say.”
At the end of the day, Snoop joins a long tradition of black artists who have muddied the boundaries between the sacred and the secular, including Sam Cooke, Al Green, and Ray Charles. But he also joins a long line of complicated biblical men: like the Apostle Paul who had been a terrorist before writing most of the New Testament, or King David–a man that God forbade from building the temple because he had too much blood on his hands (1 Chronicles 28:3).
As one of our writers, Mai Perkins, said in her coverage of Snoop’s album, “Bible of Love challenges Christians to check their judgments at the door. At the end of the day, whether you love or hate the idea of him making a gospel album, Snoop is praying for you.”

The manifestation of prophecy is primarily to build up man in his walk and help establish his relationship with God.
Prophecy will not contradict the written Word because God is not the author of confusion, and He will never confuse by saying one thing in His Word and another in prophecy.
Apostle (Prof.) Johnson Suleman, the president of Omega Fire Ministry (OFM) worldwide, on December 31, 2017, released a number of prophecies among which many have come to fulfillment.
One of the fulfilled prophecies by the ‘Oracle of God’ was the humiliation of President Jacob Zuma of South Africa from power.
Listed on number 27 of the 50 prophecies, Apostle Suleman who is the President of Omega Fire Ministries, said precisely that: “South African President Jacob Zuma To Be Humiliated.”
On Tuesday, February 13, 2018, the decision-making leadership of President Zuma’s political party, ANC, presented him sack letter and asked him to step down in two days, failing which he would be forced out of office.
In less than 24 hours to the ultimatum, President Zuma tendered his resignation letter.
Also among Apostle Suleman’s fulfilled prophecies of 2018 was the electoral victory of former footballer, George Weah, as Liberian president, and the federal government clampdown on bloggers and social media influencers.
Indeed, when true prophets speak, their words enjoy the blessings of God.
The world knows that 2,000 years ago a man named Jesus came from the town of Nazareth in what is now called Israel. He traveled about the region and gained a large following. After a few years, the religious leaders in Jerusalem falsely accused him of crimes and handed him over to the Roman authorities. They executed him by nailing him to a cross. A short time later, his followers preached in the name of Jesus Christ, whom they said rose from the dead. More and more followers were added to this movement which has become the Christian church of today.
These are the facts upon which even the greatest skeptic will agree. But there is so much more to Jesus than that. Where he came from, what he did on earth, what he can do for us now is all revealed in the Bible. This book contains the only record of Jesus and was written by the generation of people who heard him teach and saw his deeds. Here is what the Bible teaches us about Jesus Christ:
1. JESUS IS GOD.
John wrote about Him: In the beginning was the Word [poetic description of Jesus], and the Word was with God and the Word was God (John 1:1 ESV). He created the world and all that is in it (John 1:3). The religious leaders of his time understood that Jesus claimed to be God (John 5:17-18). Paul wrote that when Jesus died, the Father revealed to the entire world that He was God (Philippians 2:5-11).
2. JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD.
According to the Bible, “Son of God” means: (1) He is fully God. (2) He is one of three persons who together make up the One God. This concept is called the “Trinity.”
The religious leaders of Jesus’ time understood this concept: This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God. (John 5:18 ESV)
3. JESUS BECAME HUMAN THROUGH THE VIRGIN BIRTH.
The eternal Son of God already existed in heaven (John 17:5). Through the power of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1:20), He was born as a human being, who was then named Jesus (Matthew 1:25). To demonstrate that Jesus was not a mere man (Colossians 2:9), God chose a virgin to give birth to Him (Luke 1:34-35).
4. JESUS CHRIST IS THE SAVIOR OF THE WORLD.
Anytime we disobey God is called sin. The penalty for sin is death, but God in his love wants us to live. Therefore, he sent the promised Messiah (also called Christ) to save the world (John 1:41). The Son of God, Jesus Christ, came to earth to die in our place. Because He lived a life without sin, only He was qualified to pay for our sins by His death on a cross. He then demonstrated His power over death when He rose from the grave three days later. Only through Jesus can our sins can be forgiven and we can come to God (Acts 4:12). Jesus Christ is the Savior of everyone in the world (John 3:16).
5. JESUS PERFORMS MIRACLES.
All through his time on earth, Jesus performed miracles. He healed the sick (Matthew 8:16 among many other instances), controlled the weather (Mark 4:39), multiplied food (Matthew 14:14-21), and provided money when needed (Matthew 17:24-27). Even after leaving the earth, He still does miracles in people’s lives (Acts 3:12-16).
6. JESUS CHANGES LIVES.
People who followed Jesus turned away from their sins. He cast seven demons out of Mary Magdalene (Luke 8:2) and she became a devoted follower who told others that Jesus had risen from the dead (John 20:16). Zaccheus, a tax collector, repaid people whom he cheated when collecting taxes and gave half of everything else to the poor (Luke 19:1-10). When followers were filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, they were able to declare the message of Jesus, perform miracles, and live free from sin (Luke 10:1-20).
For nearly 2,000 years, Jesus Christ has been changing the lives of people all over the world. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come (2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV). He can change your life as well. Jesus will deliver you from sin’s addiction (Romans 6:22), renew your mind (Romans 12:2), and heal your hurts (2 Thessalonians 2:16-17).
7. JESUS LIVES IN HEAVEN AT FATHER GOD’S RIGHT HAND.
After Jesus rose from the dead, He ascended to heaven to the place where he was before becoming human. From there he is able to hear our prayers (Romans 8:34).
8. JESUS WILL RETURN TO JUDGE ALL HUMANITY.
While he was still on this earth, Jesus said, Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man [a title Jesus used for Himself], and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory (Matthew 24:30 ESV). When Jesus returns, He will separate those who will live with Him forever in heaven from those who will be punished (Matthew 25:31-33).
9. JESUS CHRIST WILL RECEIVE YOU IF YOU COME TO HIM.
Jesus said, Whoever comes to me I will never cast out (John 6:37 ESV). This was why He came to earth—to seek and to save the lost (Luke 19:10 ESV). It does not matter what you have done, Jesus still wants you to come to Him. He said, I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance (Luke 5:32 ESV).
PRAY WITH ME NOW TO MAKE JESUS CHRIST YOUR SAVIOR AND YOUR FRIEND.
“Thank you, God, for loving me and sending your Son to die on the cross for my sins. I give Jesus control of my life. Help me to be the person that You want me to be. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
“It’s Sad That There’s A Whole Lot Of Politics Played In Church” – Florocka
It remains a fact that a lot of us desire to serve God through the body of Christ with whatever gift(s) and talent(s) God has blessed us with. However, when it comes with dealing with offenses the devil does a good job of thwarting our perspective. We start to utter statements like ‘..it’s not my father’s church’, I cannot kill myself over any church’, ‘..Let the Pastor do anything he wants with his church!’ The truth in fact is that NO CHURCH BELONGS TO ANY MAN!. That a man is in charge and probably is the founder of the building and ‘branches’ doesn’t mean that he OWNS the souls of those who attend his church. And this is where the devil gets us. He uses the offense to create a barrier between us and our serve to God – through our church. Yes, it’s sad that there’s a whole lot of POLITICS played in church. People treat POSITIONS as though their existence is dependent on it. They simply lack understanding – that’s all. Don’t refuse to offer up your service to God because the church POLITICS and CRAFTINESS has gotten you to a place of anger and wrath. Remind yourself of the antidote in Luke 17:1 “.. t is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!”. Offenses are a DISTRACTION. You will find ‘Offense Breeders’ in every Church, YOU however must strategize against offenses clogging your heart. Many Christians misrepresent the gospel, let alone Jesus Christ. Sometimes even WE in our brief moments of anger display ungodly traits and say things never to be heard on the lips of a believer. . . People offended you, not God. . .
The Founder of the Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman has reacted to a recent confession in his church by his erstwhile accuser, Stephanie Otobo.
Canada-based Otobo had accused the clergyman of engaging in an extramarital affair with her and promising her marriage.
Suleman strongly denied the accusation.
However, on Saturday, January 27, Otobo recanted and confessed that she was paid heavily by some politicians to smear the clergyman’s reputation.
Taking to his verified Twitter account, Suleman said:
“The enemies of the church are confessing like witches..all happening same time…Lies have a lifespan, only truth is ageless….Fear God..
Only a fool will pay a blackmailer to come out and say d truth..it’s risky to do that cos she will use it against u 2moro..dis is God at work”
